Sungkyunkwan University
In the past, Sungkyunkwan was considered the top University in Korea because it was founded in 1398 back during the Joseon Dynasty. Therefore it is not only the oldest university in Korea but in all of Asia. It offers a Global MBA program which was Korea’s first MBA program taught 100% in English. 30% of the courses are taught for their undergraduate program are taught in English. In addition, the University is considered the best global medical school in South Korea.
The South Korean university has two campuses: humanities and social sciences campus in Seoul and a natural sciences campus in Suwon, about 28 miles outside of Seoul. Domestic and international students pay the same tuition, which varies by academic subject. Scholarships are available for international students, including merit scholarships from SKKU, where the award amount is determined by the student's GPA. Both campuses have university housing for undergraduate and graduate students.
SKKU has academic divisions that offer studies in a variety of fields, such as Confucian studies and Eastern philosophy, economics, and engineering, to name a few. English and Korean language programs are available at the affiliated Sungkyun Language Institute. SKKU has over 30 dual-degree programs in collaboration with institutions all over the world, including Fudan University in China and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Indiana University—Bloomington in the United States. The academic calendar at the university is semester-based, and the primary language of instruction is Korean, though many courses are also offered in English. Some degree programs, such as the MBA program at the SKK Graduate School of Business, are taught entirely in English.
