Sejong University
Sejong University is a private university in Seoul, South Korea that is well-known for its programs in hospitality and tourism management, dancing, animation, and rhythmic gymnastics. Originally known as the Kyung Sung Humanities Institute, it was renamed in 1978 to honor Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty and overseer of the creation of the Korean alphabet Hangul.
The university has announced plans to construct a research complex in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, that will house the Green Energy Research Institute (GERI) and the Plant Engineering Research Institute (PERI). The University's Astrophysical Research Center for the Structure and Evolution of the Cosmos (ARCSEC) was named the Best New Research Institute in 2002 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and a research grant of 9 billion won over a 9-year period was awarded.
Sejong University was named after King Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Chosun Dynasty, who introduced Hangul, the Korean language's native phonetic alphabet system. Sejong University provides its students with 90 different types of scholarships, including the Sejong Scholarship. A 2,800-seat multi-purpose performance hall, main athletic field, sports complex, tennis courts, health clinic, restaurants, cafeteria, coffee shops, bank, post office, bookstore, stationery store, and travel agency are among the student facilities.
