Kazakh-British Technical University
Kazakh-British Technical University, or KBTU, is a research and educational institution based in Almaty. It was established in 2001. The primary sectors of Kazakhstan's economy include oil and gas, information technologies, banking and finance, management, and telecommunications, and KBTU's research is concentrated on these areas.
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology in the United States has recognized KBTU as the first and only Kazakhstani institution with internationally approved IT programs. It is also the first and only Kazakhstani university to be accredited by the Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology in the United Kingdom for its oil and gas studies.
KBTU has incredibly strong and active commercial and industrial ties. The University's Advisory Board includes business heavyweights. Instead of academic committees, each of KBTU's schools has an industrial committee. These committees are chaired by national and international business and industry leaders.
Businesses can provide guidance on course design and content that is specific to the demands of the industry. Many businesses offer student loans and then recruit KBTU graduates.
