Satbayev University
Satbayev University is a Kazakhstani technical university in Almaty. The university is Kazakhstan's oldest technical university, with ten institutions and 27 departments. In the 1930s, higher technical education was stressed in order to enhance the technical and economic state of the national economy.
The Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute (KazMMI) was founded on October 20, 1933, by a resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR "On personnel training for Kazakhstan," with two faculties: mining and non-ferrous metals, in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan's capital.
The educational activity at the Kazakh Technical University after K. I. Satpaev is carried out by seven Profile Institutes, including the International Institute of Postgraduate Education "Excellence polytech," the Institute for Distance Learning, and the College.
Satbayev University's Scientific Library is the university's library. Founded in 1934 as a modest library with only two employees, the library has since expanded to hold over 2,000,000 books, 15,000 unique users per year, and over 600,000 visits per year.
