Kazakh National Agrarian University
The Kazakh National Agrarian University is a prestigious university in Almaty, Kazakhstan, that educates agriculture specialists.
The Veterinary Institute was established in 1929 to train veterinarians and zoological engineers of many disciplines, including astrakhan, poultry, horse breeding, and other specialties. The Veterinary-Zootechnical Institute was established shortly after the educational institution was reformed. It was renamed the Alma-Ata Zooveterinary Institute in 1933.
The Kazakh Agricultural Institute (KazAI) was established in Alma-Ata in 1930. The institute began with two faculties (grain and industrial crops), 11 departments, 131 students, and 42 faculty members.The first graduation took place in 1933, with 78 people (including 20 Kazakhs) receiving higher education, 51 of them are agronomists and 27 of whom are fruit farmers.
The Kazakh State Agrarian University (KazGAU) was founded in 1996 when the Almaty Zooveterinary and Kazakh Agricultural Institute merged to form the Kazakh State Agrarian University (KazGAU), whose rector was named Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kenzhegali Sagadiev.
The university was given the unique status of a national higher educational institution by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev's decree in 2001.
