The supporting cast includes Glynis Johns, David Tomlinson, and Dick Van Dyke. With painted London backdrops, the movie was totally filmed at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.

At the time of its release, it was Disney's highest-grossing movie ever and went on to become the highest-grossing movie of 1964.
