Thomas and Friends: Journey Beyond Sodor
The musical adventure film and feature-length special Thomas & Friends: Journey Beyond Sodor is a CGI-animated direct-to-DVD adaptation of Wilbert Awdry's The Railway Series, which served as the basis for the British television series Thomas & Friends. The movie is made by Mattel Creations, and Jam Filled Toronto animated it. It was made available on August 22, 2017, in the US, and on October 16, 2017, in the UK.
Thomas the Tank Engine is voiced in the movie by John Hasler in the UK and Joseph May in the US. Along with Mark Moraghan narrating his final special, it also features the voices of Rob Rackstraw, Christopher Ragland, Nigel Pilkington, Keith Wickham, Kerry Shale, and Teresa Gallagher. The cast is expanded by the addition of Hugh Bonneville, Lucy Montgomery, Darren Boyd, Jim Howick, Sophie Colquhoun, Colin McFarlane, and Nicola Stapleton. Through the Experimental Engines, this show explores a variety of qualities that youngsters have, including autism.
