May Protect Against Heart Disease
The main cause of death in the world is heart disease. It's interesting to note that the main components of golden milk, cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric, have all been connected to a lower risk of heart disease. For instance, a meta-analysis of ten trials found that 120 mg of cinnamon daily may reduce total cholesterol, triglyceride, and "bad" LDL levels while increasing "good" HDL levels. In another trial, 2 grams of ginger powder were administered to 41 people with type 2 diabetes each day. Measured risk factors for heart disease were 23-28% reduced at the conclusion of the 12-week research.
Additionally, curcumin may enhance the endothelial function of your blood vessel linings. A healthy heart depends on the proper function of the endothelium. One trial gave 4 grams of curcumin or a placebo to patients having heart surgery a few days before and after the procedure. Compared to those who received a placebo, those who received curcumin had a 65% lower chance of having a heart attack while they were in the hospital. These antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities may also guard against heart disease. In order to draw firm conclusions, further studies are required because they are few and far between.
