Monterrey Institute of Technology
The Monterrey Institute of Technology is the first name in our list of the best universities in Mexico. Founded in 1943 by a group of local businessmen, it is one of Latin America's major private, non-sectarian, and co-educational campus universities, with over 90,000 students enrolled in high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs.
The institute, which is based in Monterrey, has 31 campuses spread throughout 25 Mexican towns. It has one of the most prestigious graduate business schools in the region and leads the way for patent applications among Mexican universities. It was the first university in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world to connect to the internet. The Cervantean Library houses one of the greatest collections of Don Quixote incunabula (early printed books), as well as an original version of L'Encyclopédie and the Mario Pani Archives.
