National Autonomous University of Mexico

The National Autonomous University of Mexico (NAUM) is Latin America's largest university and one of the best universities in Mexico. Founded in 1910 by the then-Minister of Education, Justo Sierra, with the goal of creating a Mexican college of higher learning based on liberal ideas, it was originally known as the "Royal and Pontifical University of Mexico."

The institution was granted autonomy from government interference in 1929, which gave it more flexibility in terms of curriculum and budgeting.

It now maintains multiple high schools across Mexico City that educate students for higher education, in addition to offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The main campus of the institution, which was created by some of Mexico's top architects, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other campuses may be found across Mexico, and the institution has foreign locations in Texas, Illinois, and Quebec.

Despite the fact that most university courses are taught in Spanish, most degree programs offer a five-week intensive Spanish language program for international students who need to brush up on their language abilities.

Three Nobel Laureates in Peace, Literature, and Chemistry are affiliated with NAUM. There have been five Mexican presidents among the graduates, as well as a number of well-known journalists, philosophers, and politicians.

The institution is known for its research prowess, and it has a number of research centers, such as the Centre for Applied Sciences and Technological Development, that emphasize the integration of science with real-world issues. NAUM is also known for undertaking study on subjects that are directly related to Mexico and the developing globe.
