Moshi


Moshi is a municipality in northeastern Tanzania and the capital of the Kilimanjaro region. The municipality has an estimated population of 201,150 people and a population density of 3,409 people per km2 as of 2017. The municipality is located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain and a dormant volcano. The name Moshi is said to refer to the smoke that rises from a nearby mountain. The municipality is the smallest municipality in Tanzania, covering approximately 59 square kilometers.


Moshi is a tourism center on Tanzania's northern safari circuit. Kilimanjaro National Park, Mkomazi National Park, Lake Jipe, and Lake Chala are among the nearby tourist attractions. There are also waterfalls, natural springs, and tropical forests to explore. Tours from Moshi can also be arranged to Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, and Tarangire National Park.
