Mount Kenya
Mount Kenya is Kenya's highest peak and Africa's second-highest peak after Kilimanjaro. Mount Kenya stands at a height of 5,199 meters. It has one of the most stunning East African sceneries, with craggy ice-capped summits and cloud-forested mid-slopes. It has twelve glaciers that are fast melting, as well as four secondary summits at the top of steep glacial valleys. Batian, Nelion, and Point Lenana are the three summits that make up Mount Kenya. The highest point on the mountain is Batian. Mount Kenya National Park is a wildlife refuge, and the peak is located within it.
There are several good ice routes on Mount Kenya, the two most famous of which are the Diamond Couloir and the Ice Window. In recent years, the mountain's snow and ice levels have retreated at a faster rate, making these treks more difficult and perilous. Kikuyu, Ameru, Embu, and Maasai are the main ethnic groups living in the Mount Kenya region.
