Mount Silali is one of three volcanoes in the Loyamoruk Plains in Baringo County's eastern Nginyang Division, the others being Paka and Korosi. Silali is a young volcano that erupted between 400,000 and 220,000 years ago and is still active today. It is the Gregory Rift Valley's greatest caldera volcano. Its pre-caldera formation was dominated by peralkaline trachyte lavas and pyroclasts, which were followed by mildly alkaline to transitional basalts. The mountain's basalts have a similar composition to oceanic island basalts, but different isotopes indicate different origins.
