Outback Steakhouse

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian-themed American casual dining restaurant brand headquartered in Tampa, Florida that serves American cuisine. The company has over 1,000 stores in 23 countries in North and South America, Asia, and Australia. Bob Basham, Chris T. Sullivan, Trudy Cooper, and Tim Gannon started it in March 1988 with its initial site in Tampa. OSI Restaurant Partners owned and operated it in the United States until it was bought by Bloomin' Brands, as well as through other franchise and venture partnerships across the world.

The first Canadian Outback Steakhouse outlets opened in 1996. Outback Steakhouse Canada unexpectedly shuttered all nine stores in the province of Ontario in March 2009, blaming weak economic conditions; nonetheless, Outback Steakhouse launched a site in Niagara Falls, Ontario in June 2009. Although a second store in Niagara Falls has opened, these are the only Outback Steakhouse locations in Canada.

Outback Steakhouse
debuted in the United Kingdom, with restaurants in Birmingham, Basildon, Enfield, Romford, Stevenage, and Staines. By September 2011, just the Basildon and Romford locations remained, and they closed on September 13, thereby terminating Outback's effort into the UK market.
