Pequod's
Any Chicagoan worth their salt will tell you Pequod's is the best place to get deep dish. (If they aren't attempting to keep it a secret, that is.) Since 1970, the Lincoln Park restaurant has been producing pizza and is a local favorite. In fact, it is so well-liked that on weekends, wait times are occasionally measured in hours rather than minutes. Those that are prepared, however, can join the restaurant's waitlist or make reservations on Yelp.
The pan pizza's crunchy, caramelized crust is absolutely heavenly, so it's worth it. Despite the fact that places serving deep dish like Lou Malnati's and Giordano's are good, Pequod's raises the oozy style to its pinnacle. The restaurant's sausage is very tasty, adding a lovely layer of fennel flavor to balance out the richness of the pizza.
Pequod's constantly lives up to its reputation, unlike many overhyped eateries that don't usually. There is a reason why the restaurant's website states that "it's tough to mention them all" despite the fact that it has been included on numerous "best pizza" lists. The best pizza in Chicago, if not the best in the nation, is made by Pequod's.
