Phil's Pizza

Once again specializing on tavern-style pizza, Phil's is a Bridgeport institution. It is a straightforward counter service restaurant. That doesn't imply that it lacks appeal. Since forever, families have frequented Phil's, particularly if they're en route to a White Sox game at adjacent Guaranteed Rate Field. Particularly when topped with spicy tiny bits of house-made fennel sausage or the uniquely Chicago combo of Italian beef and giardiniera, these pies are crispy and wonderful. A thick, gooey coating of mozzarella is also spread over each and every one of Phil's pizzas, which wonderfully balances the crispness of the cracker crust.

Also, take note, late-night diners: Phil's is the ideal place for a nibble when you're searching for something to sop up all the Old Style you drank at the game because it's open until midnight during the week and 1:30 a.m. on the weekends. Even a side of fries is an option because, on sometimes, nothing pairs better with pizza than fries.
