Rurouni Kenshin
At the end of the nineteenth century, Japan entered the Meiji era, an era of restoration following the brutal Bakumatsu period. Hitokiri Battousai, the war's notorious hero, vanished into thin air when the conflict ended, leaving behind just his legendary status.
A Tokyo dojo owner named Kaoru Kamiya meets a seemingly ordinary traveler named Kenshin Himura many years later. A man who calls himself Battousai and goes around murdering random people and police officers is the target of Kaoru's pursuit. In addition, the fighter claims to be proficient in the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a sword style that Kaoru's father created with an emphasis on living rather than dying.
In order to help Kaoru defeat the impostor and bring her father's dojo back to life, Kenshin decides to lend a hand. The true warrior whose name continues to frighten the populace is actually Kenshin, a fact that no one knows about. Even though Kaoru finds out the truth in the end, she is moved by Kenshin's vow to make up for his violent past by mercilessly protecting the helpless, and she invites him to stay at her dojo. However, both present-day adversaries and specters from Kenshin's past quickly pose threats to his beliefs.
