The AvroKo company designed the rooms, which feature chic reclaimed wood furnishings, recyclable cardboard hangers in the closet, hemp Keetsa mattresses covered in organic cotton linens, and a Google Nexus tablet that tracks your carbon impact. Throughout, there are impressive examples of recycling, including the floor of the fitness center made from a former basketball court belonging to the University of Wisconsin.

The best rooms provide breathtaking views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, giving the rooms a trendy treehouse vibe. The headboards are made from recycled water tower wood, the flooring is covered in chic faux animal hides, and the decor is soft and neutral with splashes of green like plant walls, terrariums, and preserved moss accents.

The hotel's "Jams" restaurant offers California-inspired fare in a friendly setting. With floor-to-ceiling windows and high-top communal tables arranged around the bar, the expansive dining area, located just off the lobby, provides farm-to-table dishes that change daily based on what is in season.
