The Williamsburg Hotel
Listen up, fans of industrial interior design—this new hotel in the vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg will be perfect for you (the corner of Wythe Ave and North 10th Street to be exact). The Williamsburg Hotel, which has 150 rooms on eight stories and is covered in brick, glass, and worn steel, was created by London-based architect Michaelis Boyd as a nod to the area's industrial past. The industrial theme is perfectly captured inside, with brick walls, distressed wood floors, and steel-framed glass, while the double-height ceilings give the rooms an eclectic, New York loft-style feel.
The nightlife and entertainment are the focus of hotel life, and there are numerous bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues available, including the soon-to-be-opened Watertower bar, which pays homage to the area's old wooden water tower manufacturing. Even more spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn are available from the Watertower than from the hotel's incredibly elegant rooftop pool, bar, and café.
The hotel's rooms, many of which also have balconies, all have 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that frame those city views. The themes include custom upholstery, brass and marble bathroom fixtures from Waterworks, and textural accents everywhere. The furniture is created by Michaelis Boyd and leather supremo Bill Amberg.
