The Dresser (2015)
The Dresser is a British television drama film directed by Richard Eyre in 2015, based on Ronald Harwood's 1980 play of the same name. The central relationship in the film is inspired by Shakespeare's King Lear, just as the play on which it is based. On October 31, 2015, BBC Two broadcasted the film's premiere.
A drama about an aging actor (Sir Anthony Hopkins) and his personal assistant. This film, set at the end of WWII, is about an old actor who is constantly called 'Sir'. His health is failing him. Sir is a theatrical actor who has a forthcoming performance of King Lear to complete, but his wife advises that he cancel it due to his health. Norman (Sir Ian McKellen), his outspoken homosexual dresser, opposes and insists on the show going on, cajoling the confused Sir into performing a performance, which will serve as his farewell song. It's a great movie that looks into human relationships and the dynamics that exist within them.
