The Great Raid
The Great Raid is a 2005 war film about World War II's Cabanatuan Raid on the Philippine island of Luzon. The film's principal photography took place from July 4 to November 6, 2002, however it was pushed back from its intended release date of Fall 2003 multiple times.
The United States was closing in on the Japanese-occupied Philippines in 1945. Around 500 American POWs who survived the Bataan Death March were kept in a notorious POW camp at Cabanatuan, where they were subjected to severe treatment and extrajudicial killings since the Japanese code of bushido saw surrender as a disgrace.
