University of Adelaide
Adelaide University is a public research university in Adelaide, South Australia. It is Australia's third-oldest university, having been founded in 1874. The main campus of the university is on North Terrace in Adelaide's city center, next to the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum, and the State Library of South Australia.
The university has had a significant impact on South Australian public life, having educated many of the state's leading businesspeople, lawyers, medical professionals, and politicians. Many notable achievements and discoveries have been associated with the university, including the discovery and development of penicillin, the development of space exploration, sunscreen, the military tank, Wi-Fi, polymer banknotes and X-ray crystallography, and the study of viticulture and enology.
The University of Adelaide has taken advantage of commercialization opportunities for its research. The university has the most commercial research contracts of any Australian university. It conducts extensive contract research and collaborates with local and international businesses, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
