University of Sydney
The University of Sydney is a public research university in Sydney, Australia. It was established in 1850 as Australia's first university and is now regarded as one of the world's top universities. The university is one of six sandstone universities in Australia. The university is made up of eight academic faculties and university schools that offer bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
For the past 172 years, University of Sydney alumni have made significant contributions to both Australia and the world. Seven Prime Ministers of the university, three Chief Justices of the High Court, four Federal Opposition Leaders, two Governors-General, nine Federal Attorneys-General, 13 Premiers of New South Wales, including incumbent Premier Dominic Perrottet, and 24 Justices of the High Court—more than any other law school in Australia—are notable Sydney alumni. In addition, the faculty has produced 24 Rhodes Scholars and several Gates Scholars. On a global scale, Sydney Law School alumni include the third President of the United Nations General Assembly and the President of the International Court of Justice.
