Uvac Lakes
According to a local myth that has been passed down through the generations, a large lake once existed on the well-known Pester Plains. Troglava, a terrifying dragon who dwelt in the lake, was easily dispatched by Saint George. The forest in the lake appears to have been damaged during the struggle by the Monster's tail. Centuries later, the waters of the lake Pester flooded over, and three new artificial lakes were created - Uvac, Radoinjsko, and Zlatar lakes in the area, which are now administered by the Drina - Lim hydropower plants.
The settlement of Uvac has many monasteries because of its rough canyon, the most notable of which is Mileseva Monastery, which was erected in the 13th century as a gift by the local lords. This popular tourist destination and the corresponding nature reserve are also known as Uvac Canyon. It was molded and produced by river erosion, and it is situated halfway between Sjenica and Nova Varos. It can be identified by the somewhat condensed meanders the river etched into the limestone rock. The griffon vulture, the most significant local "scavenger of nature," has its primary habitat in Uvac since it is a protected natural area. Currently, this canyon is home to around 300 different species, making it the Balkans and Europe's largest bird colony. Certainly, when you come to this lake, you can have incredible experiences, breathtakingly gorgeous scenery, and fascinating stories to share with your loved ones as you relive your time in this area.
