Zaovine Lake
On Tara Mountain, in central-western Serbia, lies a man-made lake called Zaovine Lake. As a reservoir for the Bajina Bata II reversible hydropower plant, it was built on the Beli Rzav river. It has five bays, so the lake has earned the moniker "Jewel of Tara", and is also one of the most beautiful lakes in Serbia.
The water is relatively pure, and with a little processing in water factories, it may be utilized as drinking water, which is an interesting fact. The lake is utilized to grow carp and trout fish, in addition to offering years of leisure amenities for its most ardent and devoted swimmers. The location where renowned Serbian biologist Josif Pancic found the Pancic spruce tree is close to the lake.
In connection with it, tourists will find the myths and stories revealed about this fortified medieval town to be very entertaining. For all those nature lovers out there, it's fascinating to note that Zaovine is home to 25 of the 330 internationally noteworthy plant species whose habitat is in Serbia, 15 of which are protected as natural rarities.
