The Muppets

The sixth theatrical film to feature The Muppets was released in 2011 and is a musical comedy directed by James Bobin and written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller. Along with Muppets actors Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, David Rudman, Matt Vogel, and Peter Linz, the movie stars Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones. Four of the film's five original songs were written by Bret McKenzie, who also served as the music supervisor, and Christophe Beck created the score. In the movie, Walter, a dedicated Muppet fan, his human brother Gary, and Gary's fiancée Mary assist Kermit the Frog in bringing the dispersed Muppets back together. They need to raise $10 million to prevent Tex Richman, a businessman, from demolishing the Muppet Theater to drill for oil.

The movie's producers, Mandeville Films and Segel and Stoller, as well as its screenwriters, were originally revealed by Walt Disney Pictures in March 2008. Adams, Cooper, and Jones were cast as the movie's supporting players in October of the same year that Bobin was given the directing gig. Beginning in September 2010, all of the filming was done in Los Angeles. It was Jerry Nelson's final appearance in a Muppet movie before his passing the following year, but it was the first theatrical Muppets production to not have Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson in their respective roles. Nelson would, however, make a vocal cameo in the movie. Jacobson and Vogel each make their theatrical feature picture debuts as those characters, playing them instead.

The Incredibles

American computer-animated superhero movie The Incredibles was released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2004. It was created by Pixar Animation Studios. Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Elizabeth Pea provide the voices for this Brad Bird-written and -directed film. The movie Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl follow Bob and Helen Parr, a couple of superheroes known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, as they try to live a quiet suburban life with their three children while adhering to a government decree that requires them to conceal their superpowers. The entire family is involved in a battle with a vengeful fan-turned-enemy due to Bob's desire to help others.

The movie was created by Bird, the first non-Pixar director, as a continuation of the espionage movies and comic books he and his family saw as children in the 1960s. The orchestral score for the picture was created by Michael Giacchino.
