  1. Top 1

    Iya

A stylish restaurant with warm attentive service is a rarity in Cameroon. The white walls of the minimalist interior are accented with feathered hats and geometric basketwork from the northwest highlands. The menu is traditional with a modern twist, with imaginative reinterpretations of Cameroonian classics. Ndole and kati-kati (marinated chicken) have never looked or tasted better.

IYA is an award-winning fine dining establishment that celebrates Cameroon's diverse gastronomy and cultural heritage. We serve a seasonal menu that emphasizes local produce, high-quality ingredients, and Cameroonian flavors. The restaurant's chefs, led by chef Janvier Kouenou (trained by gourmet chef Dieuveil Malonga), put a modern spin on traditional dishes entrusted to us by our community's revered IYAs – mothers – resulting in dishes that are both modern and comforting.

  3. The nightly grill at this hotel is worth a detour; great kebabs, steaks, chicken, seafood dishes, and juicy German sausage are all well prepared and served up by the friendly staff at poolside tables under thatched rondavels. This is also a great drinking establishment, serving both fresh fruit juice and beers.

  4. If you're used to the more common Cameroonian options of chicken or fish, La Fourchette's menu is out of this world. Prices are reasonable for steak tartare, grilled zebu fillet, goat's-cheese ravioli, and stuffed crab. Service is charmingly formal; dress to impress, and make a reservation ahead of time.

La Fourchette - one of the best restaurants in Cameroon, located in the heart of Akwa, Douala's commercial center, invites you in a classy and well-appointed environment for a one-on-one supper or for your business lunches. The food is both French and foreign.

  5. Pres Cafe in Bamenda offers a rare find in Cameroon: good local coffee, including cappuccino, fresh salads, carrot cake, and a variety of natural juices. It's close to the excellent Fairtrade PresCraft gift shop, which sells fixed-price bronzes, baskets, carvings, and jewelry.

Pres Cafe has a lovely veranda and a good menu, however, the service is very slow. Due to a possible scarcity of staff: tending tables and preparing meals, as well as processing cash... bring little dollars, as they rarely have changed. Nice craft store décor; after ordering, you'll probably have time to explore before the meal arrives. It's a good spot to meet friends, it's easy to find, and it primarily serves lunch. Closes at 5 p.m., and no orders for cooked meals will be accepted after 4 p.m. on Sunday.

  7. This restaurant has the best view in town, overlooking the dramatic coastline and the Park Hotel Miramar, and serves a fairly standard menu of meat grills, shrimp, fish, and chicken dishes. The friendly staff, outdoor seating, and views, on the other hand, make it worthwhile. Travel through the gardens on the dirt road to the hotels, then take the middle path after the bridge.

The Hot Spot is located in the Botanic Garden, which is known for its stunning surroundings. There's only an outdoor patio with fish (bar, seabream...), shrimp, braised meat, and steak. Friendly and really accessible space with professional service dedicated to serving you. The restaurant will provide you with grilled meats and homemade dishes.

  9. An easily overlooked upstairs restaurant (near the market on the road to the Catholic mission) with blue-green walls, a mosaic tiled floor, plastic flowers on the tables, and cheap food, including Senegalese rice, ndole, and njapche (another type of green). In a calm and opulent environment, the gourmet restaurant "La Saveur" provides a variety cuisine and delectable desserts.

A short distance from the square, directly under the arches, you could easily miss this restaurant with its rather unobtrusive facade. so keep an eye out if you want to spot it. All delicious food is available there. And in the summer you even have a small open terrace, to enjoy the sunny days.
