  1. Československá Obchodní Banka (ČSOB) is one of the largest and oldest banks in the Czech Republic. It was established by the State in 1964 to offer services in the areas of financing international trade and conducting convertible currency transactions on the Czech market. The bank has undergone several times of restructurings since then.

After Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, it underwent a restructuring with Prague serving as its main operational hub. In 1999, ČSOB was privatized by KBC Group, a Belgian financial services company, which helped to further expand the bank's operations and reach. As a result, ČSOB became a joint-stock company. Until the end of 2007, ČSOB operated in the Czech and Slovak markets. KBC Group divided its operations in important markets into three business divisions as of January 1, 2013: Belgium, the Czech Republic (which comprises all KBC business operations in the Czech Republic), and International Markets.

Today, ČSOB operates as a universal bank and has become one of the largest banks in the Czech Republic, with a strong focus on providing high-quality financial services to individuals, businesses, and institutional clients. It operates a network of 280 branches and ATMs throughout the country and has a reputation for innovation and customer service. In 2022, its total assets were CZK 1,805.6 billion.
