Chillva Night Market Phuket
Chillva Market Phuket is one of the island's best weeknight markets. Everyone seems to adore Thai teenagers more than anyone else. Every town in Thailand has a surprising number of this shopping and eating playgrounds, and they are always crowded, so it's no surprise that Phuket now has more than nine night markets. Chillva Market in Phuket also makes good use of old metal containers, as is common in Thailand!
Chillva Market has a youthful and fun atmosphere. Many of the items for sale are original and local creations; there aren't as many fake brands here, but the watches appeared a little suspect (go to the other Naka Weekend Market if knock-off merchandise is what you are after). Clothing, jewelry, sports shoes, accessories, and gadgets that you don't need but will purchase anyway will catch your eye. Prices are reasonable, and bargaining is acceptable, but try not to bargain as hard as you would in Patong or Karon's streets or bazaars. These young people frequently try to earn a little money for fun and school.
Don't pass up this opportunity to sample some local cuisine while in town. One of the key ingredients in the market's success is the availability of salty, sweet, and colorful snacks. There's a lot to choose from, including seafood, meatballs, and sausages. Thais adore delicious fried chicken with crispy skin, tender thighs, and juicy ribs. On the sweet side, there are deliciously fresh tropical fruits, banana pancakes, and the popular mango sticky rice.
