Malin Plaza Patong

Malin Plaza is a trendy night market at the southern end of Patong Beach that has succeeded because it remembers that food is the magnet that draws people in. Many visitors to Thailand want to experience a good balance of fun shopping, good, cheap food and drinks, and a casual tropical atmosphere.

Simply walking around the market on any given evening will reveal how busy it is. There are many local foods, fruits, sweets, bars, and cafes here; it's a good mix of local markets and bazaars. Any fish or seafood can be purchased from one of the market stalls and cooked on the spot. It's less expensive and more enjoyable than eating out, and you get a sense of childish delight from being closer to the real thing. The fruit section is always busy, and it's a great chance to try some of those tropical fruits you've heard about but never tried: dragon fruits, star-fruits, snake fruits, and sapodillas. However, mango is always the winner.

Then everyone goes for the two most popular sweet treats among Phuket visitors: pancakes and sticky mango rice. People seem to go crazy when they see the pancakes, especially. Don't miss the raucous but delectable ice cream Teppanyaki! The market is large and well-located, with plenty of parking. A Tuk-Tuk ride within Patong should cost you around 200 baht.
