Phuket Weekend Night Market
Phuket Naka Weekend Market (previously known as Chaofa Variety Weekend Market) is a massive night bazaar on the outskirts of Phuket Town, south of Central Festival. Occasionally, it's even called 'Phuket Chatuchak' by reference to the giant Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok, and Thais call it 'Talad Tairod', which means 'Car Boot Sale'. The Naka Weekend Market is large, crowded, hot, enjoyable, and nearly overwhelming! You could spend hours just looking at the bric-à-brac that makes this type of night market fun; everything you don't need is here, and the majority of it is fake! The Naka Weekend Market is divided into two sections: shopping and food, which is also a lot of fun. Don't pass it up!
There's a lot of clothing, most of it from well-known brands, but the low prices hint at their authenticity. If you enjoy shopping, you will have a great time, but you may soon realize that material, shape, and quality do not compare. Bags, watches, accessories, and even perfumes adhere to the same rule. If you look hard enough, you might find some excellent local designers, so there is still hope.
This is your chance to try a variety of fun foods, including fried, deep-fried, boiled, steamed, crushed, chilled, rolled, sliced, and fermented classics. Don't be afraid to try everything, including the giant Jack fruits and durian, the much-loved Sa-Tor, and the stinky bean! Pick something and nibble as you walk, sit at one of the shop's tables, or eat at one of the restaurants in the back, as most people do. There's plenty of seafood to choose from, grilled right in front of you, as well as sweets and desserts like the ever-popular mango sticky rice and banana pancakes.
