Karon Temple Market
In recent years, the Karon Temple Market has grown in popularity. People begin to plan their evenings around it because it only happens twice a week (on Tuesdays and Fridays). Although night markets have long been popular in Phuket and throughout Thailand, a temple market sounds more exotic. Also, because Karon Beach lacks a few attractions, the fair is always a welcome breath of fresh air. The Karon Temple Market opens in the late afternoon on the land surrounding the temple in the back of Karon Beach, about 500 meters from the Karon Circle, and it's surprisingly large and fun.
This night market has a good selection of cheap clothing. The majority of them are ideal for this tropical climate: light, colorful dresses, shorts, and those cotton elephant pants that are so popular among young travelers. As expected, there are many T-shirts with various stupid messages printed on them, mostly for wearing on the beach. There are many local cosmetics and beauty products to look at; they are inexpensive and enjoyable to browse, but it is difficult to tell what they do: shampoos, creams, lotions, balms, you name it. Tourist souvenirs are available, as are beautifully carved soaps, which make a lovely and affordable gift to take home.
