The Gobi Desert is grassland and large desert located in East Asia. It includes parts of northern and northeastern China and southern Mongolia. As a result, the area of this desert amounts to 1,300,000 square kilometers.
Historically, it was once under the sovereignty of the Mongol Empire and was home to many important cities as they lay along the Silk Road. The Gobi Desert was also the source of many important fossils, including the first dinosaur eggs. Besides, there are great dinosaur skeletons, including those of tyrannosaurus rex.
