The Sahara desert is not yet the largest desert in the world, but it is the largest hot desert in the world. The area of the Sahara amounts to more than 9,200,000 km and is expanding.
This desert covers almost all of North Africa. Only excepting lands on the Mediterranean coast, the Atlas Mountains in the Maghreb, the Nile Valley in Egypt, and Sudan.
A few thousand years ago, through a wave of climate change, the Sahara was evenly covered with the green of the trees. It is expected that in 15,000 years, this desert will again be dyed green full of vitality.
