Lake Plav
Lake Plav is one of the most beautiful lakes in Montenegro. It is situated in North-East Montenegro's Plav Municipality. Plav Lake is situated between the Prokletije and Visitor mountains.
The lake's largest water levels occur in April and May, while its lowest levels occur in the summer, in August and September. The annual average temperature of Lake Plav ranges from 2,8 Celsius in the winter to 15,5 Celsius in the summer. During the winter, the lake frequently freezes, and this typically lasts until the end of February.
The lake's surface freezes during extremely severe winters, forming 20–30 cm of thick ice along its borders, making the region a pedestrian walkway for residents and guests of the small city of Plav.
The lake has excellent clarity, especially in the summer and in regions close to the shoreline. During the summer, Plav Lake is a highly well-liked tourist destination because of its abundance of fish, including chub, nase, trout, and pike.
