PTSD Coach

PTSD Coach and PTSD Coach Online were created by VA’s National Center for PTSD and DoD’s National Center for Telehealth & Technology. They design PTSD Coach for those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This app provides you with education about PTSD, information about professional care, a self-assessment for PTSD, opportunities to find support, and tools that can help you manage the stresses of daily life with PTSD. Tools range from relaxation skills and positive self-talk to anger management and other common self-help strategies. You can customize tools based on your preferences and integrate your contacts, photos, and music. This app can be used by people in treatment and those who are not.

Living with PTSD can be debilitating and isolating at times, especially if you’ve had trouble accessing treatment or support groups. PTSD Coach aims to help those with PTSD bridge that gap and get the help they need. The app is free and available in several different languages. It was created for people in the military, but anyone with PTSD can download it or use the online version.

The app and website offer many tools to help you mitigate PTSD symptoms, change destructive behaviors, and practice self-care. The app can also track your symptoms and progress and help you get professional support should you need it. It even provides calming sounds and landscapes to help combat stressful or panicked moments.

If you do not have a smartphone, but have a computer and internet access, try PTSD Coach Online. The online version of PTSD Coach is based on the app, although they do differ slightly. PTSD Coach Online includes additional tools and videos for understanding your goals and problem-solving. It is most compatible with the internet browser Google Chrome.
