Three Pagodas

The Three Pagodas in the ancient city of Dali are one of the best-preserved Buddhist structures in China and have survived several man-made and natural disasters since Emperor Quan Fenyu built the middle pagoda in 840 AD.

Two other towers were built after 1st century and are 25 meters long. Together they abound in the swamps around the city, forming a symmetrical triangle designed to fend off dragons, according to legend. They have survived numerous earthquakes in the area and remain one of Dali's most popular tourist attractions.
