Yellow Crane Pagoda
Built on the top of Snake Hill in Wuchang near Wuhan, the Yellow Crane Pagoda was a popular tourist attraction, especially among literati, during the Tang Dynasty, and many people wrote poems about it, and it became famous throughout China. It was believed that climbing the tower brings visitors closer to nature.
In 1985, it was demolished and relocated to create a bridge across the Changjiang River, the 12th in the building's 900-year history. Visitors can still climb to the summit today and enjoy beautiful views of Wuhan and the Yangtze River, even if they don't feel close to nature.
