Tran Quoc Pagoda
Situated on a small peninsula east of West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest pagoda in Hanoi. The 1500-year-old pagoda was recently voted the most beautiful pagoda in the world. The perimeter of Lakeside Pagoda is particularly attractive, and visitors light incense to burn several shrines within the complex. Watch out for the barley. It grew from a tree cut from the original tree where Buddha sat and attained enlightenment in Bogaya, India.
Tran Quoc Pagoda still has a fairly complete statuary system. It is noteworthy that among the Buddha statues in the pagoda, there are Samseongin and the ancestor monks of the pagoda. In particular, inside the pagoda is a statue of a Buddha entering nirvana, which people call a reclining Buddha.
Tran Quoc Pagoda also has many poems and parallel sentences praising the landscape by the kings and mandarins of the Nguyen dynasty. During the period of French rule, the Institute of the Ancient Far East carefully studied this ancient tower, previously considered the tenth historical building of the entire Indochina region.
