Toji Pagoda
The 57-meter-tall Governor's Temple in Kyoto is the tallest pagoda in Japan. Its elegant lines and beautiful furnishings make it a symbol of the city. Toji Pagoda is best seen in the fall when the leaves are in full bloom or in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
Built by Kobo Daishi in 826, there are four Buddha statues on the first floor, sometimes open to the public. However, most visitors are satisfied with the scenic walks and taking photos of the tower from different angles and beautiful locations.
