University of Gezira

University of Gezira, founded in 1975, is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the urban setting of Wad Medani (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Al Jazirah. This institution also has branch campuses in Alhasaheesa, Alhosh, Almanagil, Alkamlin, and Alhideebah. The University of Gezira (UofG), which is officially recognized by Sudan's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is a large (20,000-24,999 students) coeducational Sudanese higher education institution.

The University of Gezira (UofG) provides courses and programs that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees in a variety of fields of study. This 45-year-old Sudanese higher-education institution has a selective admission policy that is based on entrance examinations as well as students' previous academic records and grades. This Sudanese higher education organization is the least selective, with an admission rate of 80-90 percent. International applicants are welcome to apply. Students can also take advantage of a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aid and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, and administrative services at the University of Georgia.
