University of Milano-Bicocca

The University of Milano-Bicocca is an Italian public university that offers undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programs. It was founded in 1998 and was placed 21st worldwide and first in Italy in the Times Higher Education 2014 ranking of the finest 100 Universities under 50 years old.

The University of Milano-Bicocca is located on the outskirts of Milan, in a region that was once home to the Pirelli industrial complex until the late 1980s. Architect Vittorio Gregotti transformed the industrial area into an urban complex that now houses the University of Milano-research Bicocca's laboratories and student living halls.

The University of Milano-Bicocca arose from the separation of the University of Milan, which was getting overcrowded in the 1990s with around 90,000 students. The Bicocca, a huge area in Milan's northwestern outskirts, was chosen as the site for the new university. Until the 1980s, this area was home to the Pirelli industrial complex, and the new campus was part of a larger urban revitalization initiative. On June 10, 1998, the university was formally created.

Milan-Bicocca is a multidisciplinary university with programs in Economics, Informatics, Statistics, Law, Education, Sociology, Medicine and Surgery, Maths, Natural Sciences, Physics and Astrophysics, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Biotechnology, and Psychology.
