University of Pavia
The University of Pavia is an Italian university in Pavia, Lombardy. It is one of the world's oldest universities, with traces of instruction dating back to 1361. Until the end of the nineteenth century, it was the only university in Milan and the larger Lombardy region.
There are currently 18 departments and 9 faculties. It does not have a core campus; instead, its buildings and facilities are dispersed across the city, earning Pavia the moniker "city campus." More than 20,000 students from Italy and throughout the world attend the university. More than 80 undergraduate programs, more than 40 master's degrees, and roughly 20 doctoral programs are available at the university, including eight English programs. About 1,500 students who enter the university every year are international students.
The University History Museum, a botanical garden, research facilities, university libraries, and a university press are among the university's cultural and scientific museums. The university also has a relationship with Policlinico San Matteo, where hundreds of medical students from the university complete clinical rotations every year during their clinical years.
The COIMBRA Group and the European University Association are both members of the University of Pavia. It also participates in the Erasmus Program, which facilitates student exchanges between Pavia University and other European universities.
