University of Turin
The University of Turin is an Italian public research university located in Turin, Piedmont. It is one of Europe's oldest universities, and it continues to play a significant role in research and education. According to the most recent data, it is consistently listed in the top 5 best universities in Italy, and it is ranked third in Italy for research activity.
The current university system is based on Law 168/89, which established the Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca Scientifica e Tecnologica (Ministry of Universities and Scientific and Technological Research) and mandated a number of provisions aimed at granting greater autonomy in university administration, research, teaching, and organization.
On a global scale, the University of Turin is focused on building relationships with big organizations as well as collaborating with poor countries. Relations with United Nations Agencies have been strengthened in the former field, particularly with those already based in Turin: the ILO International Training Centre via the Turin School of Development, UNICRI, and UNSSC.
