University of Perugia
The University of Perugia is an Italian public university located in Perugia. It was formed in 1308, as evidenced by Pope Clement V's Bull recognizing the Studium Generale's birth.
Saint Herculan, one of the university's patron saints, and the rampant crowned griffin, the city emblem, are depicted on the institution's official seal; they represent the ecclesiastical and civil authorities, respectively, that gave origin to the university in the Middle Ages.
The University of Perugia offers its main courses in Perugia and Terni, as well as specialized programs throughout the Umbria region in the cities of Assisi, Foligno, and Narni, thanks to its 16 faculties and a wide range of first and second-level and single-cycle degree programs. Its research initiatives are administered by 14 departments with 1,200 full-time employees. 25 service organizations and research centers, as well as 11 libraries with extensive collections and equipment, are part of the University's activities. For the academic year 2021–2022, it had a total enrollment of nearly 27,000 students.
