Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) was established in 1995 by the government to create a training center for undergraduate, postgraduate, and science research, using high-quality and innovative multidisciplinary technology. It is located in the eastern part of HCMC, Vietnam's most developed urban area. VNUHCM serves as the foundation of the higher education system, focusing on the needs of socio-economic growth.
VNUHCM is one of Vietnam's major educational institutions, with a total area of 643.7hectar developed in a contemporary university city style. The university has 26 training, scientific research, and technology transfer units, as well as eight-member units: the University of Technology, the University of Science, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the International University, the University of Information Technology, the University of Economics and Law, and the Institute for Environment and Resources.
VNUHCM has about 60.000 full-time students and a faculty of over 300 professors and associate professors, as well as over 1,200 doctors. VNUHCM's training program, as Vietnam's leading higher education system, covers 99 areas/groups of disciplines spanning from technology, natural science, social sciences, and humanities to economics and healthcare. It also has 105 master's degree training majors and 79 doctoral degree training majors.
