  1. Volkswagen is a German automobile manufacturer located in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. It was founded in 1937 by the German Labour Front and is best known for its iconic Beetle. It is the flagship brand of the Volkswagen Group, which is the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world by global sales in 2016 and 2017. China is the group's largest market, accounting for 40% of sales and profits. Volkswagen translates to "people's automobile" from the German phrase Volk, which translates to "people's car."

Since their inception, they have made modern technology, great quality, and an appealing look available to a wide range of individuals, as seen by best-sellers like Beetle and Golf. For the majority of the twentieth century, the Volkswagen Beetle was the best-selling automobile in the world. The Volkswagen Group's subsidiary, Bugatti, sells one of the world's fastest automobiles, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which has a peak speed of roughly 430 km/h. Although Volkswagen made several minor adjustments to the Beetle, the basic rear-engine design and rounded appearance remained unchanged. Other rear-engine cars with more modern style and superior engineering were created by the firm, but none were as popular as the Beetle.

Volkswagen temporarily claimed the title of world's largest automobile manufacturer by volume in mid-2015, after surpassing Toyota Motor Corporation. However, Volkswagen soon faced a public relations issue when the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that the manufacturer's diesel-powered vehicles had software that changed the vehicle's performance to pass emissions testing. Volkswagen acknowledged allegations, and the company recalled more than 10 million vehicles globally. In the United States, the company faced more than $4 billion in fines, and numerous Volkswagen executives were eventually found guilty of different offenses. Despite the crisis, Volkswagen's global sales increased. Volkswagen terminated the manufacture of the Beetle, which had gone through several redesigns over the previous eight decades, in 2019.

However, in 2015 Audi admitted that at least 2 million of their cars had been involved in the VW emissions scandal. The cars affected were the A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, TT, Q3, Q5. And the A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, and the A8L were further implicated. Despite this, Audi reported a sales increase.

    Bitter

Erich Bitter Automobil GmbH (Bitter) is a premium sports-luxury car manufacturer based in Germany and subsequently Austria. After commercial ties with Italian manufacturer Intermeccanica ceased, Founder Erich Bitter, a former racing driver turned automotive tuner, importer, and eventually, the designer began building his automobiles.

Bitter specializes in rebuilding other manufacturers' automobiles, and the company's first vehicles were sold in Europe and the United States between 1973 and 1989. Following that, other prototypes were developed with the possibility of future low-volume manufacturing, but none were released until the Bitter Vero debuted in 2007.

Bitter's greatest model, the SC 3.9, was offered as a coupe, convertible, or sedan. The coupe was the most popular type, with 461 copies constructed, and this specimen is one of the last to be finished. The coupé was the first SC model to be introduced in 1979, followed by the convertible at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1981 and the sedan in 1984. The SC, like the CD, was based on Opel's biggest vehicle at the time, the Senator. It was still in production until 1989. Bitter has created various prototypes in the hopes of small-batch manufacture since 1989, but none have been successful.

Bitter stated during the New York Auto Show in 1984 that it will engage in a limited marketing arrangement with GM to sell the sedan version in the US through participating Buick dealerships. GM sought to regain market share lost to BMW at the time by being able to offer a premium European vehicle. In the end, less than a dozen Buick dealers had the Bitter signage, resulting in low sales. Bitter's demise was due to its business strategy and the fading trend of rebuilding other manufacturers' automobiles, which had become unfashionable by the 1980s.
