Dawat University

Dawat University, founded in 2009, is a non-profit private higher-education institution located in Kabul's urban setting (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). This university also has a campus in Khost. Dawat University, which is officially recognized by Afghanistan's Ministry of Higher Education, is a small (enrollment range: 500-999 students) coeducational Afghan higher education institution.


The founder, Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, recently obtained a license from the Ministry of Higher Education. At first, Dawat University will enroll students in the faculties of Engineering, Law, and Islamic Studies. In 2013, there were approximately 7000 students studying in six faculties: Shariah, Law, Engineering, Economics, Journalism, and Pharmacy; the first batch of 450 students graduated this year.


Dawat University provides programs and courses that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor's and master's degrees in a variety of fields of study. This 11-year-old Afghan university has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations. This Afghan higher education organization is somewhat selective, with an admission rate of 60-70 percent. Dawat University also offers students a variety of academic and non-academic facilities and services, like sports facilities, a library, financial aid and/or scholarships, and administrative services.
