Kabul University
Kabul University, founded in 1932, is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in Kabul (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Kabul University (KU), which is officially recognized by Afghanistan's Ministry of Higher Education, is a medium-sized (enrollment range: 9,000-9,999 students) coeducational Afghan higher education institution.
Kabul University (KU) provides courses and programs that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees in a variety of fields. KU also provides students with academic and non-academic facilities and services, such as a library and administrative services.
Kabul University has approximately 22,000 students. Before the Taliban took over in August 2021, nearly half of the population was female. The university reopened in February 2022, with classes separated by gender but few curriculum changes. Kabul University's mission is to mature and thrive as an internationally recognized institution of learning and research, a community of stakeholders committed to shared governance, and a hub of innovative thought and practice.
