The American University of Afghanistan

The American University of Afghanistan, established in 2006, is a private, non-profit higher education school located in Kabul (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan, is a small (enrollment range: 1,000-1,999 students) coeducational Afghan higher education institution.


The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) offers courses and programs that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor's and master's degrees in a wide range of subjects.. This 14-year-old Afghan higher-education institution has a selective admission policy that is based on entrance examinations as well as students' previous academic records and grades. This Afghan higher education organization is moderately selective, with an admission rate of 40-50 percent. International applicants are welcome to apply. AUAF also offers students a variety of academic and non-academic facilities and services, such as a library, sports facilities, housing, financial aid and scholarships, and administrative services.


It began operations in 2006 with 50 students and has since enrolled over 1,700 full- and part-time students. It has 29 Fulbright Scholars and collaborates with some of the world's most prestigious universities, including Stanford University, the University of Chicago Pearson Institute, the University of Maryland, Georgetown University, and the University of California network.
